Zij vertoonden in dezelfde hersendelen dezelfde effecten.

Noa
Yesterday we went to see Noa in Koninklijk Theater Carré. A marvellous performance; I was totally under her spell. Sometimes she looks like angel, sometimes she bounces around the stage like a wild woman. And what a voice!!

Blind rage against the movie "blindness".
This can only happen in the US of A! A great piece of literature (a must have read) has been made into a Hollywood production (did they succeed?) and some people feel offended by it. Why don't they start a book burning as well? But what is actually the problem...

A Google translation for the non Swedish readers:
In the upcoming movie "blindness" an American city is hit by an epidemic that makes people blind. Chaos arises and the city suffers from a total collapse. Chaos arises and the city suffer a complete collapse. The main role is for Julianne Moore and the film, based on a book by Jose Saramago, has launched big in the U.S. before the premiere this weekend. But not everybody is happy. The blind federation in the U.S., NFB, condemns the movie and is now urging for a mass demonstration, writes BBC News.
- The movie portrays blind people as monsters, and I think it is a lie. Blind peopel are presented as incompetent, dirty, nasty and depraved. They are incapable to do even simple things like dressing themselves, bathe or even find the bathroom. The truth is that blind people do exactly the same things that the sighted do, "said NFB's President Marc Maurer.
Now awaits the biggest protest carried out by the blind at 75 theaters across the United States in connection with the movie's premiere.

Google shows to be good brain training

Searching on the Internet shows that large parts of the older brains are set to work. According to a small-scale American research, the Internet is a good method of keeping your older brains sharp.
Internet
That puzzling is good for your brain, is often proved. But the researchers from the University of California in Los Angeles are the first to view the brain activity of people who are surfing and searching on the Internet.
On MRI scans they saw that a reading task involves the brain, but that a search on the World Wide Web much more cerebral parts are excited. This appears to be only the case with the elderly who were already familiar with the Internet.
Experience
For the study a group of 24 volunteers between 55 and 76 years were examined. Half of them could cope well with the Internet, the other half had no experience. Both groups were similar in age, sex and training.
It is important for the elderly to keep their brains in shape, to stop the decline.

Nicholas - You will laugh your head off and never want to put it down!
René Goscinny (1926 - 1977) is the writer and spiritual father of famous comic series as Asterix and Lucky Luke. But ... he is also one of the best children's writers (according to me).
Nicholas brings to life the day to day adventures of a young school boy - amusing, endearing and always in trouble. An only child, Nicholas, appears older at school than he does as home and his touchingly naive reaction to situations, cut through the preconceptions of adults and result in a formidable sequence of escapades. This first book in the series contains a collection of nineteen individual stories where, in spite of trying to be good, Nicholas and his friends always seem to end up in some kind of mischief. Whether in the school room, at home, or in the playground, their exuberance often takes over and the results are calamitous - at least for their teachers and parents. Whether confusing the photographer hired to take the class picture, dealing with having to wear glasses for the first time, or trying desperately to help the teacher when the school inspector pays a visit, Nicholas always manages to make matters worse.
What is particularly likeable about Nicholas (a quality appreciated by adults as much as by children) is his cheerful inability to understand just how exasperating he can be. Really a must have ... Ain't I just a kid? : p

Now, what?

The music of Frank Sinatra, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and many other artists provides the score to the reflections of a musician on the road in this memoir of Neil Peart's travels from Los Angeles to Big Bend National Park. The emotional associations and stories behind each album Peart plays guide his recollections of his childhood on Lake Ontario, the first bands that he performed with, and his travels with the band Rush. The evocative and resonant writing vividly captures the meanderings of a musical mind, leading rock enthusiasts to discover inside information about Rush and the musical inspirations of a rock legend.
If you're a fan of Neil Peart, Rush or just a fan of music and/or well written biographies of interesting people I think you'll enjoy this book.
"Part biography, part travelogue, part music history, Peart makes you aware that a full life should be answering...'Now, what?'" -- Metro, Toronto
